I have a pretty clear model of how to use infographics as assessment - this assignment does exactly that! My task was to view a series of resources, and use what I found to form an opinion on the subject of those resources. Some key things this assignment does to maximize the infographic's function as an assessment were setting a minimum of 3 facts to pull from the texts, which makes it necessary for students to consider the whole text, and asking the student (me) to state their opinion before reading the text, to clearly demonstrate the difference made by the research. Something that would put me off of using infographics as a form of assessment is the artistic component - while I'm happy with the content of my infographic, I'm no graphic designer, and the added pressure of putting together a visual presentation could cause unnecessary stress for some kids. However, if I wanted to differentiate assessment, an infographic could be a valuable option for kids who want a creative outlet, while a more traditional written response is still available to other students.
